As co-founder of GEM Equipment, Ed McKenney played a pivotal role in shaping both the company and the food processing industry. With a strong engineering background and deep industry connections, Ed helped launch GEM in 1969 with limited resources but a clear vision: deliver equipment that meets real-world processing needs through close collaboration with customers.

Ed’s leadership drove early success with clients like General Foods and Ore-Ida and led the development of breakthrough technologies, including the belt blancher and deluge fryer systems.
